Why Preparing Before Laser Matters

Preparing properly for your laser hair removal session is just as important as the treatment itself. The right pre-treatment steps ensure safety, maximize results, and help your sessions run smoothly and efficiently.

At Écou’s Laser, every client receives detailed guidelines before their appointment. Here is a clear overview of what to do, and what to avoid, before your session.

Essential Pre-Treatment Instructions

  • • Shave the area twenty-four hours before your appointment.

    • Arrive with clean skin. Avoid deodorant, lotion, makeup, oils, and cosmetics on the treatment area.

    • Avoid sun exposure for at least two weeks before treatment. Recently tanned or sunburned skin cannot be treated safely.

    • Apply broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher daily if you are outdoors.

    • Avoid waxing, tweezing, bleaching, or depilatory creams for at least two weeks before treatment. These methods remove the hair root that the laser needs to target.

    • Shaving is the only approved method of hair removal during your laser series.

    • Discontinue antibiotics at least two weeks before treatment, unless advised otherwise by your medical provider.

    • Stop Retin-A and Accutane at least six months before treatment.

    • Avoid retinol for five days before treatment.
